C-626 Virtual Upper Extremity

Course Overview

This course utilizes case-based instruction to illustrate shoulder girdle, elbow, wrist and hand conditions, and their advanced neurophysiological movement assessment. Coursework will focus on reason-based development of individualized examinations aimed at patient/client classification into: management of an initial diagnosis, progression to a specific neurophysiological movement examination, symptom/intervention/rule-based classification groupings, or referral to another health-care provider. Procedural interventions will include education, manual therapy techniques (including manipulation), and individualized neuromuscular rehabilitation prescription, with the goal of restoring normal function and preventing disability.
  • Course Details

    This course is 17 hours "Virtual" via Zoom plus 4 hours online asynchronous learning with interactive labs requiring a model for technique practice. Participants will receive an e-link to online coursework 2 weeks prior to the course and to the onsite course materials 1 week prior to the course. Please watch for these links in your email inbox.

Steve Allen

Steve Allen is a graduate of the University of Southern California 1977 with a MS in Physical Therapy. Internships included attending the Kaiser Vallejo Rehab Program with Margaret Knott and Greg Johnson for intense instruction in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation. Steve is the founder of Evergreen Physical Therapy in Spokane and past clinical director at Therapeutic Associates, Inc. in Liberty Lake, Washington. Steve received his Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 1986 and is a 1996 graduate of the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (NAIOMT) and received his Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy in 1998. Steve served for six years in the House of Delegates, American Physical Therapy Association, and co-chair of the Manipulation Task Force, Physical Therapy Association of Washington State.
