C-511 Lumbopelvic Spine I

Course Overview

This course enhances the ability to make decisions about the lumbopelvic region through safe, effective, and efficient screening examinations. Participants will identify an evidence-informed approach to evaluation and management through concepts of total patient health, function, life-participation, and pain behaviors. Management strategies will include education, activity modification, manual therapy techniques, and individualized neuromuscular rehabilitation prescription, with the goal of restoring optimal function and preventing future impairments.

Jessica Smith-Blockley

Jessica received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Puget Sound in 2007. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 2003 with a BA in Psychology, where she also competed in Nordic skiing. She received her OCS in 2009, became a COMT in 2012, and graduated from NAIOMT’s Fellowship program in 2015 to earn her FAAOMPT. She has been a CFI since 2015, and a Faculty Instructor with NAIOMT since 2019. Jessica owns a private practice in Bend, Oregon. Previously, she worked with Therapeutic Associates at various locations in Idaho and Oregon, where she was also a member of the Education department, serving as the Regional Director of the Supervised Clinical Mentorship Program in the greater Portland metro area for 3 years, as well as providing clinical mentorship to residency and fellowship students. She has particular interest in treating patients with complex spine issues, as well as endurance athletes and the aging athlete.

The North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, Inc.
