Bret Swigard, MPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT, c.MDT

Bret graduated from Eastern Washington University (EWU) in 1997 with his Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology. Upon graduation, he not only received high honors, but was also awarded the Mary Shield Wilson Award for Academic Excellence as well as being named Most Outstanding Student in his program. Two years later he graduated Cum Laude with his Master’s of Physical Therapy degree from EWU (1999). Since then, Bret has become certified through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a Clinical Instructor (2001) and in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the Spine by the International McKenzie Institute (2002). He is a certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (2004). Later in 2006 he became a Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT) with distinction by the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT).

The US women’s national soccer team is the most successful in international women’s soccer. The team has won three Women’s World Cup titles, four Olympic gold medals, eight CONCACAF Gold Cups and 10 Algarve Cups. On Friday, June 28th, the US team will face France in the semi-finals in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of the tournament. But as with any high intensity sport, injuries are an inevitable part of any game.
