NAIOMT offers a certification program for students who wish to demonstrate their knowledge and skill through examination. The instructional courses, course manuals and home study form the educational foundation of the certification program. |

Preliminary (LII) Examination Phase |
|
| |
The preliminary phase is a series of online tests:
- Level I test (500 core course material)
- Level II Upper Quadrant (600 core course material)
- Level II Lower Quadrant test (610 core course material)
Upon successful completion of all three online tests the student has successfully completed the preliminary (LII) certificate phase. Multiple online tests may be taken on a single online test date and do not need to be taken in the sequence listed above. |

Intermediate (LIII) Examination Phase |
|

Upon successful completion of the online test system, the student is ready to advance to the intermediate (LIII) examination phase. The intermediate phase involves three separate examinations:
- written three-hour essay examination
- case history examination
- oral practical examination.
The physical therapist earns a certification and may use the NAIOMT initials CMPT (certified manual physical therapist) after successfully completing the preliminary and intermediate exams (online or traditional LII written, LIII essay, case history and oral practical exams). |

Advanced (LIV) Examination Phase |

If desired the student may pursue NAIOMT advanced (LIV) certification.
Upon successful completion of the Level IV Oral Practical examination, the student may use NAIOMT initials COMT (certified orthopaedic manual/manipulative therapist). |

The preliminary, intermediate and advance phases must be pursued and completed in sequence. Within each examination phase, however, the examinations may be taken in any order. |

Cost |
|
| |
The cost for certification varies depending on location. Most courses cost somewhere between $150-$200 per day and the entire certification series totals 41 course days. Exam costs are as follows: |

- LI/LII Online Exams - $45 Each
- LIII Case Histories - $200
- LIII Written Exam - $330
- LIII Oral Practical Exam - $1000-$1250 depending on location
- LIV Oral Practical Exam - $1000-$1250 depending on location
