How often are the online tests offered?
A. Exams are offered 8-10 times per year.  Exact dates here. The online tests will be available online for the day of the online test from early morning until evening.

What do they cost?
A. $45 each, with a $25 late fee for late registrations.

How long will each online test take?
A. You will have a maximum of 130 minutes (2 hours, 10 minutes) per test.

What is the scope of each online test?
A. Each online test will examine your knowledge of the material from one 6-day course syllabus (i.e. the 42 hours of a Level I/500 core course). The scope of the online test will be the application and clinical reasoning of the material taught in the class, the course manual and independent study from the course reading list. The amount of material to learn for each online test is less than for the Level II written paper examination.

Are sample online test questions available?
A. Yes. A description of the scope of each test, the main section headings and some sample questions are available online here. This also describes the marking of the test. Wrong answers will not be penalized.

A. Online registration is available here. Registration can be up to THREE DAYS before the online test. There is a registration deadline, after which candidates will be chared a $25 late fee. See schedule here.

Do I need a proctor?
A. No.  As of January 2012 proctors are no longer required.  See below, “Candidate Responsibilities” for more information.

Candidate Responsibilities:

Approximately a week before the exam, candidates will be emailed technical instructions and a separate email per exam type with individual passwords for the online exam(s) that they have registered for.  The candidate is responsible to check their emails for the instructions/passwords.  If the candidate does not receive the instructions/passwords they are responsible to contact the NAIOMT exam coordinator at, exams@naiomt.com at least 48 hours prior to the exam date or the exam will be forfeited.   It is also the responsibility of the candidate to contact the NAIOMT Exam Coordinator if their email address has changed. Through the registration process the candidate needs to certify that they are the person identified in the registration form and the information provided is true to best of their knowledge.  They as well need to certify that they are aware of the consequences of cheating, including having someone other than themselves take or assist with any of the exams will render the exam(s) null and void and void their eligibility to take further examinations with NAIOMT, Inc.

It is the responsibility of the exam candidate to take the exam on the designated exam date - exam questions are not to be accessed prior to the designated exam date and timeframe.  Taking the exam on another date will result in the exam being forfeited and void eligibility to take further examinations with NAIOMT, Inc.

Taking another exam type other than the exam type the candidate registered and paid for will forfeit the candidate’s exam and void eligibility to take further examinations with NAIOMT, Inc.

Can I “mix and match” online tests?
A. Yes. You may take any combination of exams. All three exams may be taken in one day or just one or two may be taken. They may also be taken in any order.

How do I access my exam?
A. Approximately a week before the exam, candidates will be emailed technical instructions and a separate email per exam type with individual passwords for the online exam(s) that they have registered for. On the exam date the candidate will type in some indentifying information and when ready will be begin the exam.

Will I get the results immediately?
A. Yes. Final results will be emailed to you upon completion of the exam and will include some limited feedback based on subsections.  There is no further feedback. We do not use a “bell curve or cut score”.

What if there is a computer problem during the online test?
A. There is no technical assistance the day of the exam.  Exams may be rescheduled at no cost to the candidate due to technological difficulties.  Some technical instructions are provided to the proctor.

When I pass the 500/level 1 test, am I certified at NAIOMT Level I?
A. No, you receive an e-mail acknowledging you have passed, but you are not certified. Also after Level II 600 and 610, you are not NAIOMT-certified. You have passed an examination or series of tests that identify a level of OMPT knowledge. NAIOMT does not give a certification or designation until all parts of the Level III examination have been completed.

Where will the thoracic material be tested?
A. 500/Level I test will include questions relevant to the thoracic as taught in that class. The 600/Level II Upper Quadrant test will include a few basic thoracic questions. As the thoracic content is removed from the 600 course to the 640 and 740 thoracic courses over the next two years, NAIOMT will decide how and where to best test that material. Thoracic questions in the 600 LII Upper Quadrant test will focus on the application of principles to that region.

Will online tests be available for other NAIOMT courses?
A. Currently formal online test are not available for the NAIOMT 625 Extremity Manipulation core course nor for any of the specialty courses. Instructors may set informal online test in those classes.

Will I still be able to get the “B’ or higher grade recorded that I need for university credits or my employer?
A. Yes. The three online tests results will be averaged and a final grade awarded.

If I need a higher grade than I achieved for university credits or for course tuition reimbursement from my employer, can I retake the online test?
